  5. Rockwood's Historic Structures Walking Tour

    Take a rare walk back in time to learn how the existing and lost structures of Rockwood completed a working estate of food production, animal husbandry, household utilities, transportation, and other 19th-century challenges. Your guide will be dressed in vintage clothing and will use vintage photographs to provide you with the history of Rockwood as you walk from structure to structure. Tour is approximately 90 minutes in length and covers approximately 1 mile to include surfaces of grass, gravel, and paved areas. Ages 14+. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.     In partnership with the Wilmington Brew Works, Rockwood and its friend’s group, the Rockwood Park Preservation Society (RPPS), will host a monthly happy hour gathering for lovers of dogs, beers, and live music. Dogs have always been present in Rockwood and have made some of the estate’s most memorable inhabitants. The whole park is open and the events will include scavenger hunts for kids and families, descriptions of Rockwood’s “best friends” as well as hand-made dog toy workshops. Cash bar-bring a snack! All sales support Rockwood’s ongoing preservation efforts.
