PIKE CREEK, Del. – New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon and County Councilman Timothy Sheldon cordially invite everyone to celebrate the beginning of spring by attending the popular Country Spring Festival scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at Carousel Park & Equestrian Center.
Last year’s festival drew nearly 7,000 people who enjoyed hayrides, the jelly bean contest, Carousel Park’s barn and Kids Corral featuring a variety of animals, and the sheer beauty of the park on a sunny day. County Executive Gordon and Councilman Sheldon hope to see a large crowd again this weekend.
”The Country Spring Festival at one of our major parks has the potential to be the largest celebration of the advent of spring for many years to come,” the Executive said. “There few things I enjoy more than seeing thousands of people enjoying their park and making wonderful family memories.”
“The great thing about the Country Spring Festival is that it reminds people of this incredible open space and natural resource in their backyards,” Councilman Sheldon said. “It’s a county-wide event, not just for the ninth district. It’s close enough to the major highways to make this park accessible for everyone. Plus, we’re all just ready for spring.”
Department of Community Services General Manager Sophia Hanson added that the Kids Corral would include the new Alpacas and the newest barn babies for all to enjoy.
The free event is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Attendees are reminded to bring cash for the food vendors.
