Schedule
  •  First Friday With Councilwoman Lisa Diller - 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. -  November 7th and December 5th at the Newark Senior Center.  Please join Councilwoman Diller on the First Friday of each month to discuss topics that are important to you and your community.
  •  New Castle County Council Meetings - New Castle County Council holds committee and Council meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.  Please visit, http://www.nccde.org/calendar.aspx?CID=38, for more information and meeting schedules.
  •  Art Exhibit - The Newark Municipal Building hosts an art exhibit each month to display a new artist’s work.  Displays are free and open to the public weekdays from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  •  Sleep Under The Stars - Carousel Park on Saturday, October 25th with check-in beginning at 10 a.m.  For overnight campers, check-out time is Sunday, October 26th at 12 p.m.  The Fall Sleep Under The Stars features spooky fall fun for the whole family!  Come out and enjoy a day and night of free, safe family entertainment.  Enjoy painting pumpkins, stuffing scarecrows, hayrides, and so much more.  Additional information can be found at http://www.nccde.org/845/Sleep-Under-The-Stars.
  •  Newark Halloween Parade & Trick or Treat - Sunday, October 26, 2014, 3:00 p.m., Main Street, Newark.  Plan now to be a part of this special Halloween event, complete with marching bands, floats, antique automobiles, costumed characters, and much more.  If you simply wish to come in costume and walk in the parade, pre-registration is not necessary.  Check in at the information booth at George Read Park by 2:30 p.m. on parade day.  Please refer to www.cityofnewark.org for more information.
  •  White Clay Creek Trail Hikes - November 2014 guided hikes in White Clay Creek State Park.  November 2nd, 5th, 12th, 16th, and 25th.  For more information about a hike contact Gary Kirk (garykirk_3@msn.com or 302-366-0464).
  •  Newark Turkey Trot - Run/Walk - Saturday, November 22nd at Handloff Park on Barksdale Rd in Newark. Pre-race shirt and number pick up at the Parks and Recreation office will be held on Friday, Nov 21 from 8:30am-4:00pm for those registered by Nov 14.  This is a rain or shine event.  For additional information, please call the Newark Parks and Recreation Department at (302) 366-7060 or the Hotline at (302) 366-7147.  Registration Fee - $20.00 on or before November 20.
  •   28th  ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DAY BREAKFAST - Thursday, November 27th, 8:00 a.m.—10:30 a.m. at the George Wilson Center.  $3.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door.  Enjoy Thanksgiving Day morning in the company of Newark neighbors and friends.  This year, we are holding an optional food drive for the Delaware Food Bank.  Please bring a canned item (fruit, vegetables, meat, tuna) the day of the breakfast and we will make sure it gets delivered to the Food Bank (www.fbd.org).  Biography
Lisa Diller is a long term resident of Newark and the former pastor of the Christiana Presbyterian Church in historic Christiana Village. Lisa Diller is married to John Tobin. Lisa and John attended the University of Delaware as undergraduates and they returned to the community because they thought it would be a great place to raise their family. They live with their daughter Mei in Newark.

Experience
Lisa's experience with both nonprofit organizations and government agencies gives her management experience and an understanding of the importance of constituent services. She served as the administrator for the State of Delaware's Office of Volunteerism where she managed a multimillion dollar budget. She is a member of the Governor's Commission on Community and Volunteer Service. She also holds a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary and teaches at several local colleges.

Objectives
Lisa's objectives are to provide a cost effective and responsive service delivery, promote sustainable growth, and develop regional partnerships to bring jobs and transportation to residents.
